The Oregon Ridge Nature Center & Park Council is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to enhancing the enjoyment of nature. Council members work with the staff of the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks to provide programs for the public ranging from conservation to natural history, including seasonal programs, topical seminars, and trail walks.

Primitive Technology Weekend

Glimpse into man's prehistoric past at Oregon Ridge Nature Center's Primitive Technology Weekend on Saturday and Sunday – May 3 and 4, 2008. Each year since 1988 professional and avocational flintknappers, living history practitioners, traditional archers, and archaeologists have gathered together with the visiting public during the first weekend in May to share knowledge and hands-on experience in replicating items composed of stone, bone, wood, and natural fibers.

Music in the Woods

Amateurs and professionals who play fiddle, banjo, dulcimer and other traditional instruments are sought and encouraged to voluntarily entertain, demonstrate and educate at Oregon Ridge Nature Center's 2nd annual festival of traditional music, Saturday May 10 (rain date Sunday May 11) from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Special Volunteers Needed

Do you work for an organization that encourages volunteerism? We at Oregon Ridge are looking for a group who could supply us with 12 to 20 volunteers on special occasions at the Nature Center. Call Volunteer Chairperson Jeanne Cole at 410-887-1815.
